"We knew that today was going to be a tough game with both teams coming off a previous loss on Friday. However, we were able to repeat a successful attack early on into this match. We had 16 shots in the first 45 and if we could put something together, we knew we could get 3 points today" stated head coach Tony Economopoulos. "We came out with a lot of good energy and curated some really good opportunities, and their keeper made a lot of good saves. Nevertheless, we continued to create good openings for us up top and that led to getting a shot in the box and that's what earned us the win today. Every team is tough in the SoCon so it's up to us to go into tomorrow, watch some film, and get ready and be as prepared as possible for our future matchups. If we do that, I know we can control our own destiny and hopefully finish as a top 2 seed and host the quarter and semifinal games here at Betts Stadium."

Like Friday, the Bears generated many excellent opportunities quickly with now sixteen shots in the first half. Mercer came close to taking the lead early on as the Black & Orange were led by bothKylie Buchananand Payton Schurr. With the being said, it seemed like everyone on offense showed up today. Mackenzie Gassie, Aliah Kitchens, and Elizabeth Hargis also made it difficult for UTC's Abbey Saddler.
Chattanooga, when on their attack, had some smart chances as well. However, it was the birthday girl herselfJordyn Ebertthat tallied a clean sheet on the day. Substitutions for UTC became present into the second half in attempts to add more pressure on the Bear's back line. The Mocs were tough on offense and Abbey Saddler answered with an impressive double-digit amount of saves on the day, but a foul in the box would be all that it took to reach the final score.
With both teams playing physical, Mercer was assessed a pair of yellows while UTC received one of their own.
Notables:
The Bears will play Friday the 8th when they visit UNCG at 7 p.m.
