Three Bears scored in double digits
ST. LOUIS, MO. –  The first matchup of the Cancun Challenge for the Bears ends in a 58-75 defeat to Saint Louis.Â

Mercer (1-3) had three players score in double figures. Mercer was led by Jalen Johnson's 16 points. Neftali Alvarez had 15 points on 7-of-14 shooting while Felipe Haase added 13 points to round out the scoring for the Bears. Shannon Grant shot 50% from the field and tallied 6 rebounds. The Bears also shot 12-15 from the charity stripe. The Orange & Black will head to Cancun next, with action beginning Tuesday, Nov. 23 at the Hard Rock Hotel Riviera Maya.

The Billikens (4-1) did not have an answer for the Bears in the first 10 minutes in the game. However, by the second half, Saint Louis' defense held Mercer to just 8-of-24 shooting, and 1-of-11 from 3-point range, to earn the victory on the night just after leading by only three points at halftime. Saint Louis was led by Fred Thatch Jr., who had 20 points on 8-of-9 shooting, while Terrence Hargrove Jr. recorded his second double-double on the season with 15 points and 11 boards.

The Bears will look forward to their next matchup against Bucknell in Mexico.Â
