Mercer to face South Alabama in road trip finale

MOBILE, Ala. – The Mercer women's basketball team will end the season's longest road swing with a matchup in Mobile against the South Alabama Jaguars.

Last Time Out
Alabama used scoring runs of 13 and 14 points to pull away from Mercer on Wednesday night in Tuscaloosa's Coleman Coliseum. Amoria Neal-Tysor's 19 points led Mercer's offense against the Crimson Tide. It was the third time in six games Mercer played a team from a power conference following Wake Forest and Georgia. No other SoCon school played more than two in their first six.

Series History
Mercer and South Alabama will meet for the 13^th time tomorrow. The Jaguars hold the series lead with a 7-5 advantage and have taken the each of the last four, as well as seven of the last eight meetings following Mercer taking the first four. These two sides last met a little more than 13 years ago when South Alabama took a 96-82 decision in Mobile.

New Season, New Bears
There will be plenty of new faces at Hawkins Arena for the 2021-22 season, as Mercer welcomes eight new student-athletes – Kinley Fisher, Endia Banks, Erin Houpt, Erin Gutierrez, Kassidy Jones, Nigeria Harkless, Ashlee Locke and Lauren McNamara-Clement – to campus.

Scouting the Jaguars
South Alabama enters the matchup with a 3-2 record, fresh off a 63-53 win over New Orleans. The Mitchell Center has been a haven so far for the Jaguars, as they have an unblemished 3-0 mark from its confines so far this season. Jaylin Powell leads the South Alabama offense with 14.8 ppg and is coming off a 22-point performance in their win over New Orleans. Zena Elias is pacing the Jaguars with 9.5 rebounds per game.
