SERIES HISTORY | LAST MEETING
Mercer and UAB have met five times on the pitch with the Bears picking up their lone win in the series in 2015. The Orange & Black most recently took on the Green & Gold in October at Betts Stadium, a match that UAB won, 2-1. Mercer's Ally Fordham scored her second goal of the 2020-21 season in that match after Elizabeth Hargis flicked her a free kick into the box, which Fordham promptly headed over the Blazers' Sarah Francis Adair for the goal. Payton Jamieson and Jordyn Ebert combined for five saves in the net for Mercer.
SCOUTING THE BEARS
Fordham and Aliah Kitchens led Mercer's offensive attack in the fall with a pair of goals to their credit. Kitchens led all players with five points. Pace Stephenson and Amaya Evans each netted one goal. Also returning for Mercer is the reigning Southern Conference Freshman of the Year, Nicole Icen, who scored 10 times in her first collegiate season. Junior Kylie Buchanan will anchor a backline that will protect Ebert and Jamieson. The duo combined for 31 saves in the fall. Ebert has been a steady force in the net for the Bears the past four years with 289 saves to her name, which is fourth all-time in Mercer women's soccer history. 21 stops will move her past Maggie Cropp for sole possession of third.
SCOUTING THE BLAZERS
The Blazers played three matches in the fall – defeating Mercer (2-1), battling WKU to a 2-2 draw that ended in a shootout with WKU earning a 7-6 advantage and falling to Georgia State (0-2). Erica Demers' squad battle Montevallo in an exhibition on January 28. The Blazers topped the Falcons, 3-1. In Thursday's spring regular season opener at Memphis, UAB fell, 3-0.
