Bears open SoCon play with Wofford
MACON, Ga. – The Mercer women's lacrosse team will welcome the Wofford Terriers and the Stetson Hatters for two game weekend matchup.
Mercer will open their SoCon slate with Wofford on Friday at 3 p.m. They will conclude their three game home stand when they welcome Stetson for a Sunday morning match up. The game is slated for 11 a.m. Â

SERIES HISTORY
This is the third meeting between the Bears and the Terriers. Mercer has won both games between the two schools. The last meeting was in the 2019 season with the Bears taking it 20-6. Hailey Rhatigan and Eva Thorn each has three goals in the game.

ABOUT THE BEARS
Mercer earned their first win of the season with a 17-14 win over the Winthrop Eagles at Five Star Stadium on March 9. Lily Morin earned Southern Conference Offensive Player of the Week. She scored a career high five goals against the Eagles. Her five goals was also a team high for the season. Morin's total in her career is now 52, which moves her up to the ninth spot for career goals in the Mercer record books. Three Bears found the back of the net for the first time this year against Winthrop. Katie Ryan, Kayla Soltys, and Lyndsey Lewis scored their first goals. Lewis scored her first two in the game. Senior Sami Van Slyke recorded a career high three caused turnovers against the Eagles.

SCOUTING WOFFORD
Wofford is coming off a loss against no. 23 James Madison. In the match, Elisabeth Ralph scored the lone goal for the Terriers. The goal brings Ralph's season total to seven, leading the Terriers. Leah Hurley leads the pack with 10 grounds balls on the season. She is the lone player with double-digit groundballs. Tori Saylor has six caused turnovers on the season. Goalie Kelsey Thompson has spent over 160 minutes between the pipes. She has 23 saves on 102 shots faced. Kim Orie Eldridge enters her second season at the helm of the Terriers.

SCOUTING STETSON
The Hatters are coming off a 12-19 loss against Kennesaw State on Monday. Attacker Marina Rotella led the Stetson with four goals followed by Riley Reagan with three. Two of Reagan's goals came from free-position shots. Reagan led with four groundballs and three caused turnovers. Jaclyn Lavoie and Madison Edkins led the Hatters with three draw controls each. Goalie Sydney Heimann saw all 60 minutes between the pipes, stopping eight shots. Christy Leach enters her sixth season at the helm of the Hatters.

The Bears will head to No. 1 North Carolina on Saturday, March 27 for the first matchup between the Bears and the Tar Heels. The game is set for 1 p.m. on Dorrance Field.
