
Bears Crush Terriers in Afternoon Match

Five players had a multi-goal game
MACON, Ga. – Mercer women's lacrosse team earned their first conference win in a dominate 20-5 performance against the Wofford Terriers on Friday afternoon.
Hailey Rhatigan was quick to open the scoring for the Bears, scoring two goals within the first four minutes of the game. Less than three minutes later, it was Lily Morin and Shannon Urey who found the back of the net. Rhatigan was quick behind them to record a hat trick in the first eight minutes. Chloe Schaeffer, Maddi Koury, and Eva Thorn each added to Mercer's total with goals within two minutes of each other. Senior Sami Van Slyke would be the next Bear to score a goal with an assist from Thorn. Thirty seconds later, Rhatigan would find the back of the net for the fourth time. The Black and Orange would score five more goals from Eva Thorn, Lyndsey Lewis, Chloe Schaeffer, and two from Shannon Urey to go into half time with a 15-0 lead.

Mercer would score first in the second half with Eva Thorn's third goal of the game. The longest scoring drought for the Bears would be seven minutes after Thorn's goal. Lily Morin would end the drought at the 19:46 mark with an unassisted goal. Schaeffer would recorded a hat trick with an assisted goal from Maddi Koury, followed by another goal, which came from a free-position shot. Mercer's final goal came from Kate Ryan with 6:08 left in the game. The Bears would end the game with a final of 20-5.
