Wright's Record Highlights Mercer's Time in Daytona

Cherrish Wright set the program record in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 13.92 seconds.
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. –  Cherrish Wright's program record in the 100-meter hurdles highlighted Mercer's last day at the Embry-Riddle Spikes Classic in Daytona Beach, Fla., on Saturday.
Mercer started the day with a victory in the 4x100-meter relay as Kennedi Weston-Shields, Lauryn Dancy, Wright and Ceylani Rembert defeated St. Leo with a time of 48.83 seconds.
Wright made it back-to-back wins for the Bears to start the day, breaking her own 100-meter hurdles record by 0.2 seconds to finish the event in an incredible 13.92 seconds. Wright was the only competitor to complete the event in less than 14 seconds, and she held a 0.4 second advantage over second-place finisher Quanterra Harrison of UNC Pembroke.
Carlandra Jones liked the sound of three consecutive event wins and delivered with a race-winning time of 56.80 seconds in the 400-meter run to move into third in the program's record book. She finished 0.87 seconds ahead of second-place runner Courtney Gales of Southeastern University.
In the 100-meter dash, Dancy led the way with a podium finish, taking the bronze with a time of 12.14 seconds. Rembert turned in a personal best of 12.56 seconds to finish 10th. Chidimma Uwaomah (12.61 seconds) and Hannah Cooper (13.01 seconds) finished 12th and 13th with Cooper setting a new PR.
Tara Davis shattered her old PR in the 800-meter run, finishing fourth after crossing the line in 2:20.38. Davis' new personal best moved her into sixth-place in the record books. Teammate Giulia Giorgi rounded out the top-five runners, clocking in at 2:26.35.
In the last event of the day, the 200-meter dash, Uwaomah and Cooper both set PRs. Uwaomah finished 10th in the race with and cut 0.21 seconds off her previous PR with a new time of 26.41 seconds. Cooper ran 14th, clocking in at 27.03 seconds for a new personal best.
