One record fell, and five Bears set a personal best on Saturday.
GREENSBORO, N.C. –  Carlandra Jones set a program record in the 400-meter dash, and the Mercer Bears had five athletes set a new personal best at the Aggie Invitational on Saturday.
Jones finished ninth in the 400-meter dash and shaved 0.2 seconds off the program record with her time of 55.58 seconds. She owns five-of-ten spots in the 400m record category after Saturday's stellar performance.
The Bears' 4x100-meter relay squad of Kennedi Weston-Shields, Lauryn Dancy, Cherrish Wright, Ceylani Rembert and Samaiya O'dneal began the day in Greensboro with a podium finish. The team clocked it at 47.16 seconds and came home third overall.
Wright had another solid showing in the 100-meter hurdles with a sixth-place finish. Her time of 14.18 seconds now ranks third in program history.
Mercer took home silver and bronze medals in the 100-meter dash courtesy of Wright and Lauryn Dancy. Wright's second-place showing and time of 11.86 seconds moved her into second in the program record books. Dancy's new PR of 11.87 seconds earned her the final podium spot and tied her with two of Wright's previous performances for the third fastest time in program history.
Tara Davis continued the PR trend with a 20th-place effort in the 800-meter run and new personal best of 2:18.98, running the fifth fastest time in program history.
Five runners represented the Orange & Black in the 200-meter dash with Jones leading the way in 27th. She set a new personal best of 25.11 seconds along with Rembert (25.67 seconds) and Weston-Shields (25.72 seconds). Rembert and Weston-Shields crossed the line in 33rd and 36th respectively.
