MACON, Ga. – Chad Surman's Mercer Bears will conclude the regular season at Bellarmine on Saturday afternoon. Face-off is set for 1 p.m. eastern time.

SERIES HISTORY
Mercer is 2-8 against Bellarmine. The Bears topped the Knights in back-to-back seasons – 2014 and 2015 – but have suffered five straight defeats, including a 9-7 loss in the 2021 season opener.
SCOUTING BELLARMINE
Bellarmine is 4-10 overall and just 1-4 in Southern Conference contests. The Knights are led by four double-digit scorers – Landon Trout, Kyle Playsted, Benny O'Rourk and Luke Legnard. Trout paces the team with 18 goals and 29 points. Playstead has scored 15 times and recorded 13 helpers to lead the Knights. O'Rourk and Legnard have scored 13 and 11 times, respectively. With a goal on Saturday, Griffin Bowie will record his 10th goal of 2021. In the cage, JC Higginbotham has started 11-of-14 games and played 688:1. He has allowed 124 goals, an average of 10.81 per game, which ranks third in the conference. Higginbotham has made 132 saves.
SCOUTING MERCER
Mercer is coming off a 21-8 loss to nationally-ranked Richmond, a game in which Patrick Marks scored three goals and Peter Klueber recorded a career high 14 stops. Will McCarthy leads the Orange & Black with 19 goals, but not far behind is the team's points leader, Sean Goldsmith. Goldsmith has scored 17 goals and is tied with Michael Quinn with a team high nine assists. Both Goldsmith and Quinn surpassed 100 career points in an April 24 win over VMI. Michael Quinn (15 goals), Taylor Dooley (14 goals) have also scored double-digit goals. Ashton Wood has picked up 104 ground balls, while the Bears have grabbed 371, both of which lead the SoCon. In goal, Colin Kelley leads the conference with 138 saves and 12.55 saves per game. Among all NCAA Division I players, Kelley is 21st in saves per game.

A win Saturday over Bellarmine gives the Bears a 3-3 record in Southern Conference play and locks them in as the No. 4 seed for the upcoming Southern Conference tournament. If the Bears lose, tiebreakers will come into play depending on other results within the league.
