Dylan Patterson Joins Women’s Soccer Staff

Patterson played collegiate soccer for the Winthrop Eagles.
MACON, Ga. – Head coach Tony Economopoulos announced the addition of Dylan Patterson as the program's new graduate assistant on Wednesday afternoon.
Patterson played four years at Winthrop University in Rock Hill, S.C., appearing in 67 contests with 65 starts on the Eagles' backline. She scored her first collegiate goal as a freshman in a 2-1 win over conference foe Presbyterian and was a two-time All-Big South honoree. A native of Peachtree City, Ga., she earned Second Team All-Big South honors as a junior and made an appearance on the first team in her final collegiate campaign. Patterson helped engineer a remarkable turnaround for the Eagles in her final two seasons, leading the Maroon and Gold to 16 total victories during her junior and senior campaigns after only a combined nine triumphs in the two prior seasons.
Patterson also spent time with the Rochester Lady Lancers of the United Women's Soccer League and was the 2017 UWS Iron Woman of the Year, while also serving as a team captain in 2017 and 2019. In 2018, she represented the Philippines as a member of the senior national team.
A decorated student, Patterson participated in the College Sport Research Institute in April 2018 and partook in a pair of NCAA Forums in 2019 – the Inclusion Forum and Career in Sports Forum. Additionally, she served as a Co-President of the Winthrop Sport Management Association for its inaugural year in 2019 and won the association's Intern of the Year award the following year.
After the conclusion of her playing days, she interned for Winthrop's athletic department with a focus in marketing and communications and also with Van Wagner Sports and Entertainment. Her duties with Van Wagner included serving as a primary contact liaison between the organization and its corporate partners and fulfilling sponsorship contracts.
"We are excited to add Dylan to the staff," said Economopoulos. "She had a great career at Winthrop and everyone I spoke to had nothing but positive things to say. They all mentioned how she played a critical role on the soccer field and in the workforce. I think the team is going to take to her, and we look forward to her contributions within the program."
The Bears will kick off the 2021 fall campaign in mid-August. A complete schedule will be announced soon.
