Browne last ran at Shorter University
MACON, Ga. – Former Shorter University student-athlete Bianca Browne will transfer to Mercer for the upcoming track and field season, head coach Roosevelt Lofton announced Thursday afternoon.
Browne spent her first two seasons running for head coach Willie Griffieth at Shorter. Prior to Shorter, she spent four seasons on the track and field squad at Woodland High School, which was coached by Symonte Stokes. She finished third in the 100 and 200-meter dashes at the region meet in 2019. That season, she qualified for the state meet in the 100-meter dash and 4x100-meter relay. In 2016, she ran at the state meet as part of Woodland's 4x100-meter relay squad.
Browne also ran for coach Ron Williams and the D.C. Express track club out of Stockbridge, Ga. In 2018, she set her 200-meter personal record with a time of 25.7 seconds, and the following year she won the 4x100-meter youth championship and was a New Balance Indoor Championships qualifier. Her 100-meter dash PR of 12.2 seconds came in 2019.
"Bianca will be a welcome addition to our short sprint group," stated head coach Roosevelt Lofton. "As a transfer we are looking for her to bring depth to the short sprint group. She has the leadership and experience that we will need to remain relevant and as one of best sprint teams in conference. Welcome to the Mercer, Bianca."
She was on Stockbridge High School's Honor Roll and also participated in cheerleading and served as the President of the Student Government Association. She is the daughter of Desmond and Felicia Brown and has two siblings, Desmond and Taylor. She plans to major in psychology.
