TAMPA, Fla. – Mercer's 4x100m Relay squad registered a season-best time on the way to an eighth place tally, while Naomi Pierce and Jayla Simmons both finished among the top 20 in the Long Jump, to highlight action for the Mercer track & field team on Saturday afternoon at the South Florida Invitational.

The 4x100m Relay squad – Akira Brown, Charity Obazughanmwen, Jayla Simmons and Talaya Broaders – eclipsed its previous best time in the discipline by 0.18 seconds to best five other teams, including squads from South Carolina State and Dartmouth.

Two Bears tallied personal-best times or marks in at least one event, including sophomore Akira Brown who posted personal records in both the 100m and 200m Dash. Brown also ran the first leg for the 4x100m Relay team.

Mercer is back in action again next weekend, April 17-18, when the entire squad makes the short trip to Atlanta to take part in the Georgia Tech Invitational.
