MACON, Ga.  – The Mercer Bears volleyball team will continue their season in North Carolina this weekend with two matches on Saturday against North Carolina A&T and Elon.

SERIES HISTORY VS. THE AGGIES
The Aggies and the Bears meet again for the eighth time. The last meeting was in 2012, ending in a Bears win of 3-1. The Bears lead the series, 4-3.
SERIES HISTORY VS. THE PHOENIX
This will be the fifth matchup between Mercer and Elon. The last meeting between the Bears and the Phoenix was in 2003 in favor of the Phoenix, 1-3. The series is tied at 2-2.
SCOUTING THE AGGIES
The Aggies are coming off of a 1-2 weekend, following the Aggie-Spartan Invitational. NCAT defeated Norfolk State University (3-0) but fell to American University (3-2) and UNCG (3-1). Freshman Naiya Sawtelle recently made history after being the first Aggie to receive Big South honors. Sawtelle was awarded Big South Freshman of the Week. Sawtelle has recorded 88.0 points this season, second-most in the conference. Sawtelle leads the team in kills with 72. Setter, Addy Warfield leads in both assists (120) and service aces (12). Libero Andrea Laboy-Rivera totals 65 digs, followed by setter Edie Brewer with 64. Middle blocker Shalynn Hall leads in blocks with 28. Overall the Aggies are 3-3 with additional wins over Samford and North Carolina Central University. Head coach Hal Clifton is in his 10th season.

The Phoenix enter the tournament with a 3-4 record with wins over Lehigh (3-1), Presbyterian (3-0), and Furman (3-0). Outside hitter, Leah Daniel leads the team with 89 kills. Libero Jordan Gower has recorded 97 digs, setter Haylie Clark has 206 assists, middle blocker Jenn Krzeminski has 28 blocks, and libero Alex VanWestrienen has nine service aces. Daniel was awarded CAA Player of the Year, First-Team All-Conference, AVCA All-Region, and All-American honors prior to this season. Gower was selected All-CAA Second Team. Head coach Mary Tendler is in her 19th season with the Phoenix.
