Bears Head to Charleston to Face The Citadel

MACON, Ga. – Mercer will travel to South Carolina to face The Citadel Bulldogs in the McAlister Field House on Jan. 17. This rescheduled game was previous slated for Dec. 29.

LAST TIME OUT:
The Orange & Black are coming off a 58-49 victory in Hawkins Arena against UNCG. In that contest, two Bears reached double-digits in scoring with Jalen Johnson (16) and Felipe Haase (13). Three different Bears, Johnson, Shawn Walker Jr., and Shannon Grant all shot 100% from the free throw line. Haase and James Glisson III combined for 10 rebounds. Glisson III shot 3-for-4 from behind the arc on the day.

The series is set at 13-3 for the Bears and Bulldogs as of Dec. 9, 1970, with Mercer leading the overall history between the two. Their last meeting was in Hawkins on Feb. 22, 2021, where Mercer won 88-52.
SCOUTING THE BULLDOGS:
The Citadel is coming off a close 90-85 loss against to VMI in Charleston. The Citadel is now 1-3 in the conference while VMI moves to 3-3. Jason Roche earned his fifth game making at least five 3-pointers, putting him seventh all-time on The Citadel's freshman scoring list with 60 threes this season. Rudy Fitzgibbons III posted 21 points. Stephen Clark nearly had a double-double on 12 points and eight assists, while Tyler Moffe earned 11 points. The Bulldogs made 13-of-40 threes on the day to VMI's 9-of-26.
