Mercer wins, 71-64, against The Citadel
MACON, Ga. – Coach Greg Gary and the Bears defeat The Citadel Bulldogs, 71-64. Mercer moves to 4-1 in conference gameplay and 3-5 in away games this season.
Mercer (11-7, 4-1 SoCon) had James Glisson III tally 16 points while also going 100% from the free throw line with nine rebounds as well. Felipe Haase had himself a day too with 14 points and 12 rebounds along with six assists. Haase's third double-double on the season. Haase notched six of his points from a 6-of-6 shooting performance from free throw line. Shannon Grant and Jalen Johnson recorded eight rebounds for the Orange & Black. Jordan Jones, started in his first game in his Mercer career, and scored 10 in 31 minutes. Shawn Walker Jr. finished 3-for-4 from behind the arc. A total of eight different Bears saw the court today, as Mercer has now won four out of their last five matchups in January.
The Citadel (7-9, 1-4 SoCon) had Stephen Clark lead the Bulldogs with 18 points. Clark went 9-of-15 from the field on the night. Hayden Brown added 16 points in 35 minutes of gameplay on a 2-for-8 shooting performance from the field. Brown had 11 of his points from free throws and added eight rebounds as well. The Citadel shot 30% in the second half. Brent Davis and David Maynard combined for 17 points for the Bulldogs. The Citadel move to 1-4 in the conference.
