Bears Travel to Johnson CIty to Face ETSU

Tip-Off is at 7 p.m.
MACON, Ga. – Mercer will travel to Tennessee to face the ETSU Buccaneers in Freedom Hall on Wednesday, Jan. 19 with tip-off slated for 7 p.m. This will be game four of five within a 10-day stretch for the Bears.

The Orange & Black are coming off a 71-64 victory in the McAlister Field House against The Citadel. In that contest, three Bears reached double-digits in scoring with James Glisson III (16), Felipe Haase (14), and Jordan Jones (10), a career high for the freshman. Glisson III and Haase both shot 100% from the free throw line. Haase recorded 12 rebounds and notched his third double-double on the season. Shawn Walker Jr. shot 3-for-4 from behind the arc on the night.
SERIES HISTORY:
The series is set at 10-25 for the Bears and Bucs, with East Tennessee State leading the overall history between the two. Their last meeting was in Hawkins Arena on Feb. 17, 2021, where Mercer won 71-64.
SCOUTING THE BUCS:
ETSU is coming off a close 88-85 win against to Samford in Birmingham. ETSU is now 3-3 in the conference while Samford moves to 1-4. All five of ETSU's starters scored in double figures and the Buccaneers shot over 50 percent from field. Ledarrius Brewer knocked down five threes to finish with 17 points, while his brother Ty added 15 points and nine rebounds. Jaden Seymour was 4-of-4 from the field, finishing with 10 points, three rebounds and two blocks. Charlie Weber connected on four of his five attempts. The Bucs were 11-of-15 at the free throw line.
