MACON, Ga. – Mercer is back home as they host Western Carolina in Hawkins Arena on Saturday, Jan. 22 with tip-off slated for 5 p.m. This will be game five of five within a 10-day stretch for the Bears.

The Orange & Black are coming off a 64-72 defeat in Freedom Hall against ETSU. In that contest, three Bears reached double-digits in scoring with James Glisson III (17), on a 8-for-14 shooting performance, Felipe Haase (17) as well, and Jalen Johnson (14). Johnson and Haase both shot 100% from the free throw line. Glisson III led the team in rebounds with seven in 35 minutes of gameplay. Jordan Jones shot 50% from the field and from behind the arc on Wednesday night.

The series is tied at 11-11 for the Bears and Catamounts, with both teams looking to take the lead in the overall history between the two as of Dec. 8, 1978. Their last meeting was in Cullowhee, N.C. on Feb. 27, 2021, where WCU won 85-61.
SCOUTING THE CATAMOUNTS:
WCU is coming off an 88-50 loss against Furman in Timmons Arena. WCU is now 2-4 in the conference while Furman moves to 5-3. Only two of WCU's starters scored in double figures versus the Paladins. The Catamounts also only shot 17.4% from deep. Junior Vonterius Woolbright scored in double digits for the 10th time in the season with a team-best 14 points and grabbed a team-high seven rebounds. Marvin Price was the second and final Catamount to finish in double digits as he tallied 11 points off the bench.
