Bears Win Their Eighth in Hawkins.

Mercer wins over WCU, 72-64.
MACON, Ga. – Coach Greg Gary and the Bears defeat the Western Carolina Catamounts, 72-64. Mercer moves to 5-2 in conference gameplay and 8-1 in home games this season.
Mercer (12-8, 5-2 SoCon) had Jalen Johnson tally 18 points while also going 100% from the free throw line with six rebounds as well. Jordan Jones, the freshman, had himself a night with 16 points and four assists along with four converted threes. Jones had 35 minutes of seen action in the match. Felipe Haase notched 13 points against WCU as he shot 5-8 from the field. Haase brought down six boards and recorded two steals. Shannon Grant and James Glisson IIIrecorded 10 rebounds for the Orange & Black. Shawn Walker Jr., Kamar Robertson, Johnson, and Glisson III all finished 100% from the charity stripe. A total of nine different Bears saw the court today, as Mercer has now won its eighth matchup at Hawkins this season.
Western Carolina (8-12, 2-5 SoCon) had Joe Petrakis lead the Catamounts with 20 points. Petrakis went 5-of-10 from downtown on the night. Cameron Bacote added 14 points in 33 minutes of gameplay on a 4-of-6 shooting performance from the field. Three of Bacote's points came from the free throw line. Bacote also recorded two rebounds on the night. WCU shot 36.7% from behind the arc in the matchup. Nick Robinson and Vonterius Woolbright combined for 22 points for the Catamounts as they both finished with 11 a piece. The Catamounts move to 2-5 in the conference.
