Bears Travel to Birmingham to Face Samford

Mercer vs. Samford, slated for 8 p.m. ET
MACON, Ga. – Mercer will travel to Birmingham, Alabama to face the Samford Bulldogs in the Pete Hanna Center on Wednesday, Jan. 26 with tip-off slated for 8 p.m. ET. This will be the second meeting of these two teams within the '21-'22 season.

LAST TIME OUT:
The Orange & Black are coming off a 72-64 victory in Hawkins Arena against Western Carolina. In that contest, four Bears reached double-digits in scoring with Jalen Johnson (20), Jordan Jones (16) another career high, Felipe Haase (13), and Kamar Robertson (10). Robertson, Johnson, Glisson III and Shawn Walker Jr. all shot 100% from the free throw line. Johnson and Haase recorded a combined 12 rebounds and six assists. Jones shot 4-for-7 from behind the arc last Saturday night.
SERIES HISTORY:
The series is set at 17-2 for the Bears and Bulldogs, with Mercer leading the recent history between the two since Nov. 29, 2001. The overall series is set at 74-45 with the Bears on top. The last meeting between these two was earlier on in the season in Hawkins Arena on Jan. 5, 2022, where Mercer won 83-80.
SCOUTING THE BULLDOGS:
Samford is coming off a close 58-61 win against to UNCG in Greensboro. Samford is now 1-5 in the conference while UNCG moves to 3-4. Samford was led in the loss by Ques Glover and Logan Dye as both recorded 14 points each. Jaron Rillie added 10 points for the Bulldogs. Wesley Cardet only scored one point was able to pull down 11 rebounds for Samford.
