Beach Volleyball Concludes Fundraising Efforts

MACON,GA- The Mercer Beach Volleyball team and head coach Josh Marsh concluded their fundraising efforts on Sunday, October 9th at the Braelinn Golf Club in Peachtree City.Â
The Beach Bears were involved in many initiatives to help raise funds leading up to the tournament. Starting with promoting the event by selling raffle tickets at football games as well as appearing on the Sports Mic Mercer Tailgate show. They also visited several local businesses in Macon collecting gifts that were used as part of a silent auction. These efforts alone raised over $5000.Â
The team had over 30 sponsors, including premium sponsors Fiserv and New Age Plumbing. Because of all the sponsors, players, and private donations, the team far exceeded its overall financial goal. A big thank you goes out to all the companies and individuals who contributed to their success.Â
At the tournament, players were welcomed with tokens of appreciation and lunch, along with an opportunity to meet the team and visit the silent auction tent. The event ended with a BBQ dinner and an award ceremony where a couple of our very own Beach Bear parents came out as winners. Both Becky Benson and Dwight Hood earned closest to the pin. The tournament host at Braelinn Golf Club, Joe Dente, and his team were exceptional and made the day memorable for everyone. Â
The event's fundraising was certainly a group effort, with the entire Mercer Beach Bear community, including alumni, current, and future players & families all helping out. The coach and team would like to send out a special thank you to the committee chairs who worked for several months up until the final event: Debbie Hood, Marcy Paddock, Charlie Benson, Jen Warren and Monica O'Mara.
