
Mercer Registers Two Wins At Bears Beach Bash

MACON, Ga. – The Mercer beach volleyball team hosted the Bears Beach Bash over the weekend at Bear Beach where they picked up wins against Huntingdon and Wesleyan and fell to Palm Beach Atlantic and UT Martin. Jordyn Thomas-Warren and Maggie Forsyth went undefeated on the weekend to highlight Mercer's play.

The Bears opened up play in Macon with a matchup against Palm Beach Atlantic on Friday at 9 a.m. with pairs one, three and four all going into three sets. On court one, Kristi Talocka and Grace Rathburn dominated in the second set 21-12 but could not come away with the win in the third set falling 15-6. The four pair of Finley Kenney and Maddie Lee lost a touch 19-17 set three. The number three duo of Jordyn Thomas-Warren and Maggie Forsyth dominated their second two sets to give Mercer their lone match win.

Mercer returned to the sand later that day to face UT Martin and ultimately fell to the Skyhawks 4-1. The duo of Jordyn Thomas-Warren and Maggie Forsyth once again won their match in the three slot 22-20 and 21-15.

The Bears were back for more on Saturday, opening up their play with a 5-0 win over Huntingdon. Four out of the five pairs dominated in two sets and the five pair of Shealey Peck and Carly Lenhardt pulled away with the set-three win 15-6 to secure the shutout for the Bears. Mercer then closed out play with a dominating 5-0 win over Wesleyan.

Mercer will be back in action in two weeks where they will host the Sun Belt Mid-Year Weekend at Bear Beach from March 27 to March 28.
