Second double-double in a row for Craig; 20 points for McCreary
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Freshman David Craig earned his second career double-double (10 PTS, 12 REB) as the Mercer men's basketball team fell to Florida State, 81-72, on Monday, November 21 at the Donald L. Tucker Civic Center in Tallahassee, Florida. Jalyn McCreary recorded his fourth game in double figures with 20 points.
The freshman from Johannesburg, South Africa, notched double-doubles in back-to-back games. He hit all four free throws attempted, a career-high for Craig.
McCreary scored 10 field goals which is just one shy of his career-high set against Milligan earlier in November. He also logged six rebounds and one block.
The Bears had five players score in double figures for the third time this season and the second game in a row. Kamar Robertson finished with 15 points, including three from beyond the arc. Michael Zanoni and Shawn Walker Jr. both finished with 11 points.
Mercer continues to excel in assists this season. The Bears have recorded more assists than the opposing squad in every game this season, adding 17 to the total tonight. Luis Hurtado Jr. logged a team-high nine assists against Florida State.
After a slow first half, the Bears picked up the tempo in the second half. Mercer had a 12-0 run to take the lead for the first time since the middle of the first half. The difference remained tight for much of the second half, until the final minutes when the Seminoles responded with a 9-0 run to secure the win, 81-72.
UP NEXT: The Mercer men's basketball team will compete in the Hostilo Community Classic beginning on November 25 in Savannah, Georgia. The Bears will face Robert Morris, Fairfield, and Towson.
