Bear's set to play seven games at Five Star Stadium
MACON, Ga. – The Mercer Men's Lacrosse Head Coach Ryan Danehy announced the fifteen regular season-game schedule for the 2023 season.Â
"I am extremely excited about our 2023 schedule," said Danehy. "Our goal this year is to win the ASUN championship. I believe we have a great range of out-of-conference opponents, all with unique identities, that will help prepare us for an extremely competitive nine-game league schedule. The spring cannot come soon enough!"Â
Mercer will open with a pair of scrimmages in back-to-back weeks, January 21 and January 28 at Five Star Stadium. Â
The season starts on February 4 when Mercer travels to Pennsylvania to take on Bucknell and is followed by a trip to Durham, North Carolina for a match-up under the lights against North Carolina on February 10. Mercer will play three consecutive matchups at Five Star Stadium, when the Bears take on Holy Cross (February 18), Army (February 25), and the first ASUN Conference game against The Air Force Academy on March 4. Â
Following the three-game homestand at Five Star Stadium, the Bears travel to Richmond on March 7. Four days later, Mercer will travel back north to Maryland to visit UMBC on March 11th. UMBC will be Mercer's final nonconference game of the season.Â
On March 18, the Bears will continue ASUN Conference play against Detroit Mercy. A week later, the Bears will travel to Jacksonville, Florida to take on the Dolphins of Jacksonville University. Following the trip south, The Bears travel to Louisville, Kentucky for a midweek ASUN matchup against Bellarmine on March 29. Conference play continues at Five Star Stadium for back-to-back weekends, when the Bears take on Robert Morris (April 1) and Cleveland State (April 8). The Bears then travel west to Salt Lake City to take on Utah on April 15.Â
Mercer will celebrate its seniors with an ASUN conference matchup against the newly joined Division 1 program at Queens University of Charlotte on April 22. Following the celebration of its seniors, Mercer will travel to Saint Charles, Missouri for the final game of the season against Lindenwood University.Â
The ASUN Quarterfinals are slated for May 2, and the ASUN Semifinal and Final are slated for May 5 and 7, respectively, at Robert Morris University in Pittsburgh, PA.Â
