Mercer visits Wofford and Furman for penultimate road trip
MACON, Ga. – With the home portion of the schedule complete, Mercer will trek to upstate South Carolina for two of its final three regular season contests of the 2021-22 season, visiting Wofford and Furman. Â

Last Time Out
Mercer took both games last week against opponents from North Carolina: Western Carolina and UNCG. Against the Spartans, the Bears took a 75-43 decision in which Amoria Neal-Tysor led the offense with 23 points and seven assists. In addition, the Orange & Black outrebounded UNCG by a 46-32 margin and notched 46 points in the paint en route to the 32-point victory in the home finale.
Series History
Mercer and Wofford are meeting for the 22nd time when the two face off on Thursday in a series that Mercer holds a 19-2 edge. It also will be the first meeting in Spartanburg since the January 11, 2020 contest due to the unique 2020-21 season's scheduling. The last time these sides met, Mercer pulled away from the Terriers in Hawkins Arena by a 67-53 margin behind double-digit performances by Neal-Tysor, Jaron Dougherty and Shannon Titus.
Scouting the Terriers
Since falling to Mercer, Wofford has won five in a row – including a 22-point win over Furman in Spartanburg. Jackie Carman, the reigning SoCon Player of the Week, leads the Terriers in points, points per game, threes and three-point percentage.
Series History
Mercer and Furman will meet for the 27th time on Saturday night in a series that the Bears lead 20-6. Despite dropping the last meeting, the Bears have won four of the last six against the Paladins. In January at Hawkins Arena, Furman edged Mercer by a 69-66 scoreline in a back-and-forth contest.
Scouting the Paladins
Despite dropping their last game to Wofford, Furman has won five of seven as they sit third in the SoCon. Tierra Hodges leads Furman with nearly 18 points per contest and has converted 39.5% of her shots from the field. Tate Walters' 5.9 3s per game paces the Paladins attack from distance.
