Jonsson Finishes First at Wexford

Jonsson finished in first place at the Wexford Intercollegiate

HILTON HEAD, S.C. - Tobias Jonsson, led the Bears placing first overall in the Wexford Intercollegiate finishing 212 (-4).

Jonsson shot an impressive third round 70 (-2) which featured four birdies. In the second round, Jonsson was one under par at the turn which would eventually tie his first-round performance finishing with back-to-back rounds of shooting 71. Jonsson's finals scores were good enough to land him the first place standing in Hilton Head, South, Carolina. At the end of the tournament, Martin Plukka would go on to finish right behind him shooting a final of (-3). Jonsson is currently ranked 36^th in the nation.

Two additional golfers recorded under par rounds over this past weekend. Martin Plukka carded a three under par rounds.Jay Spivey finished four under (-4) the second round of 18. Spivey's performance was the lowest round of any Bear at the Wexford plantation. Jonathan Parker shot an even score in that same second round. The Bears finished in tie for fourth overall on the weekend.

Mercer will return to action on Wednesday, March 9^th against Furman University. The golfers will play in an all-day event on Wednesday.
