Mercer welcomes Western Carolina and UNCG for final home games
MACON, Ga. – For the final time in the 2021-22 campaign, Mercer will welcome its next set of opposition to Hawkins Arena. These matchups will complete the home-and-home series between the Catamounts and Spartans, respectively. In the prior meetings with both, the Bears took the road decisions last month in North Carolina.  Â

Mercer swept its Tennessee opposition (Chattanooga and ETSU) last week on the road. Amoria Neal-Tysor, Erin Houpt and Shannon Titus each put up double-digit scoring efforts in an offensive explosion in an 82-48 win over ETSU in Johnson City. Â
Series History
The Bears and Catamounts will meet for the 24th time in a series that the Bears lead 22-1. Mercer took the last meeting, a 69-58 decision in Cullowhee last month. Amoria Neal-Tysor and Erin Houpt combined for 40 points in the win at Ingles Court. The Orange & Black have taken the last five from the Catamounts.
Scouting the Catamounts
Western Carolina is looking for its first road win coming into Hawkins Arena on Thursday night. Joi Reed tallied 13 points in their setback to Wofford and has even hit double-figures in points in her last two appearances.
Series History
Mercer and UNCG will meet for the 18th time in a series that the Bears hold a 14-3 advantage. In the last meeting, Shannon Titus and Endia Banks combined for 33 points to lead Mercer past UNCG in Fleming Gym by a 66-60 margin. Since dropping all three meetings in the 2019-20 season, Mercer has taken the last three, all of which took place in Greensboro.
Scouting the Spartans
UNCG has dropped three of their last four and four of six going into Thursday's contest at Samford. The Spartans are led offensively by Isys Grady, a freshman who's connected for 229 points in the 2021-22 campaign. Their 55.7 points per game surrendered leads the league.
