Moorman Leads Attack
Macon, GA—In a battle of the unbeatens, the Mercer Bears topped the College of Charleston Cougars, 4-1, Friday night at Betts Stadium. The Bears ran their overall record to 2-0-1 (0-0-0 SoCon) and College of Charleston fell to 2-1-0 (0-0-0 CAA).
Freshman Jada Moorman got the Bears attack, rolling with her first collegiate goal 23 minutes into the game. She followed that with another goal five minutes later.

Moorman's goals were the first against the Cougars in regular season play this year. College of Charleston's Olivia Freitas cut the Bears lead to 2-1 with 11 minutes left in the first half. The Bears' Lana Whitfield scored her second goal of the season with a minute and a half left in the first half.
It was a night for twos. As Kendall Cook also notched her second goal of the campaign, connecting on a penalty in the first eight minutes of the second half, giving the Bears their 4-1 margin.
The Bears controlled the offensive flow throughout the game with 12 corner kicks to just two for College of Charleston. The game got a little testy at times, as the Cougars received five yellow card cautions. The Bears had none.
Mercer faces the Stetson Hatters on Sunday Aug. 28 at Betts Stadium, in a 2 p.m. kickoff.
