MACON, Ga. - The Mercer women's basketball team travels to Chattanooga to take on the Mocs on Saturday, Jan. 14 from McKenzie Arena. Tip off is scheduled for 2 p.m.

Amoria Neal-Tysor and Erin Houpt powered Mercer's offense in a 66-52 win over ETSU on Thursday night.
Mercer out-rebounded ETSU 44-26 on the night. Jaron Dougherty had a season-high 12 rebounds and Summah Evans had eight rebounds, and each had five points.
Mercer went 21-for-24 (88%) from the free throw line. Despite committing a season-high 25 turnovers, with 17 of them coming in the first half, the Bears still held a 4-point lead at halftime and turned it into a 14-point road win.
Amoria Neal-Tysor led the Bears with 22 points, five rebounds, and three assists. Erin Houpt had 18 points, five rebounds and two assists. Houpt was 13-for-14 from the free throw line.
SCOUTING CHATTANOOGA
Chattanooga is coming off a 7-23 season in 2021-22. The Mocs went 5-9 in conference play.
The Mocs were picked to finish fifth in the eight team league in the preseason coaches poll. Chattanooga is coming off a 5-point loss at home on Thursday to Samford.
Chattanooga has the No. 2 scoring defense in the SoCon, as the Mocs are giving up just 53.7 points per game. That also ranks 14th in the country. Having a strong first half has been an important factor in determining the outcome of the game for the Mocs. Chattanooga is 8-2 when leading at halftime and just 1-5 when trailing at the half.
Senior guard Yazz Wazeerud-Din leads the Mocs in scoring and is tied for second in the SoCon, averaging 16.0 points per game. Two other players averaging double-figures in scoring for the Mocs are Raven Thompson (13.5 ppg) and Abbey Cornelius (11.2 ppg).
Thompson and Cornelius are also Chattanooga's leading rebounders and each rank top-5 in the SoCon in rebounds per game at 7.6 per game. The Freshman Thompson is aggressive in getting to the basket and as a result leads the SoCon with 5.8 free throw attempts per game.
