Woods Tabbed to Preseason All-ASUN

ATLANTA – The ASUN Conference office announced its 2023 Men's Lacrosse Preseason All-Conference awards Wednesday January 11, as voted on by the league's 10 head coaches. Mercer's Ashton Wood was named to the ASUN Preseason All-Conference team.

The lone faceoff specialist on the ASUN Preseason Team- Wood- the senior from St. Augustine, Fla made six starts in eight games and won 133-of-209 (.636) faceoffs during his senior campaign with the Bears. The St. Augustine native tallied at least one goal in five of the six final games. Following his final game of his senior year, Wood was selected as the SoCon's Defensive Player of the week, after going 20 of 26 from the Faceoff x with 11 groundballs and two goals. Wood finished his SoCon tenure as the conference's all-time leader in ground balls (374), faceoff wins (633), and faceoff win percentage (.645).

Mercer will open its 2022 campaign Saturday (Feb. 4) against Bucknell in Lewisburg, PA, followed by a visit to Chapel Hill, NC six days later (Feb. 10) to take on UNC.
