
Men’s Golf Finished in 17th Place at the Daniel Island Intercollegiate

DANIEL ISLAND, S.C. – Senior Jay Spivey carded a 7-over-par to lead the way for the Mercer men's golf team on Tuesday, however the Bears were unable to make any headway on the team leaderboard and remained in 17th place at the Daniel Island Intercollegiate.
Spivey (+7) tallied two birdies and eight pars on Tuesday at the 7,332-yard, par-72 Ralston Creek Course in southeast South Carolina, and made a climb up the individual leaderboard into a share of 47th place alongside teammate. Senior Gustav Sjoberg (+10) and Jonathan Parker (+10) finished their tournament in a four-way tie for 60th place after Tuesday's final round, while freshman Charlie Fischer (+24) and sophomore Connor Holcroft (+25) are in 80th and tied 90th place, respectively.
Middle Tennessee State (-8) combined for a 2-under-par 286 team score on Tuesday to lead in the team standings, while VCU (-8) climbed into second place after the final round. Louisiana Monroe was able to shoot a 3-under-bar to claim third place. The Bears (+49) finished 59 strokes off of first place held by the Blue Raiders.
This was the final event for the fall season for the Men's Golf Team. The Bears are back on the tee box on February 11 for the Palmas Del Mar Tournament hosted by UNCG.
