Men's Soccer Suffers First SoCon Defeat

SPARTANBURG, S.C. –The Mercer Bears battled until the final whistle against Wofford, losing 2-0 at Snyder Field in Spartanburg, South Carolina on Saturday, October 7.Â
Mercer moves to 5-3-4 on the season and 1-1 in SoCon play, while Wofford moves to 4-2-5 on the season and 1-0-1 in SoCon play. The Terriers would strike first in the 20th minute. The bears would continue to move the ball up the wing but were unable to find the back of the net to draw the match before halftime. The Bears would start the second half off attacking the Terriers defense leading to many chances that were saved by the Wofford goalkeeper. Wofford would add one more goal to their total in 79th minute. The Bears continued to attack until the final whistle, unable to break the Wofford Defense.Â
Up next, the Bears will welcome Furman to Betts Stadium in Macon for the Inaugural Baba Agbaje Memorial Game on Saturday, October 17 at 7 p.m EST.Â
