MACON, Ga. - It will be a matchup of the top two teams in the SoCon on Sunday when Mercer welcomes conference leader Western Carolina to Betts Stadium Sunday afternoon.

Goals from Larkin Thomason and Keelin Pray and a sound defensive performance helped the Mercer women's soccer team defeat VMI, 2-0 on the road Thursday night, earning its third consecutive conference win.

SCOUTING WESTERN CAROLINA
Western Carolina enters Sunday's game at 7-3-3 overall and 4-1-0 in SoCon play. They have shut out their last three conference opponents in UNCG, Wofford, and Chattanooga.

The Catamounts' lone conference loss was at home to Furman, 2-1. Western Carolina won their big SoCon opener against preseason conference favorites Samford 1-0.

Western Carolina is tied for second with Samford and trailing only the Bears in goals this season with 27. They have allowed only 13 goals in 13 games. The Catamounts average 14.31 shots per game which is third most in the Socon.

The game Sunday will feature statistically the four best offensive players in the conference. Mercer's Jada Moorman leads the SoCon with 25 points (10 goals), but Western Carolina's Naya Marcil (24 points) and Isabella DeMarco (22 points) are second and third in the conference respectively. Larkin Thomason is fourth with 21 points.
