SERIES HISTORY
This will be the 10th meeting all-time between Mercer and Clemson. Clemson leads the series 7-2. The two teams last played December 2, 2020 in Clemson with the Tigers winning 67-54.
SCOUTING CLEMSON
Clemson finished last season with a 19-16 overall record and the Tigers went 7-11 in ACC play. They advanced to the third round of the WNIT.
Clemson returns its All-Conference forward from last year in Amari Robinson and the 2023 ACC All-Freshman selection in Ruby Whitehorn. Robinson is Clemson's leading scorer through the first two games at 21.5 points per game.
The 2023-24 Clemson Tigers are an experienced group with six newcomers on the team, including four transfers. The Tigers have three 1,000 - point scorers on their active roster.
Clemson's two wins this season came out at home as the Tigers defeated Winthrop and Charleston Southern each by 30-point margins.
LAST TIME OUT
Stacie Jones recorded her second double-double in as many games and Mercer outscored Florida Atlantic 25-12 in the third quarter to defeat the Owls in Mercer's home opener, 70-62 Thursday night in Hawkins Arena.
The Bears trailed 35-32 at halftime, but used a big third quarter, outscoring the Owls 25-12 to take a 10-point lead into the fourth quarter. The Bears did a much better job of limiting their turnovers after having 26 turnovers in the season opener at Western Kentucky, the Bears committed just 10 on the night.Â
Carrying over from the season opener for Mercer was it's excellent performance on the glass, as it outrebounded the Owls 47-38, including 21 offensive rebounds.
Jones led the Bears with 20 points and 13 rebounds and did it on an efficient night from the floor as she was 8-for-12 (75%) from the field.
NEED TO KNOW
Clemson is the first of two ACC teams the Bears will play in non-conference action this season. Mercer will visit Georgia Tech on December 5.
