SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Veterans Samuel Barrow and Victor Putter teamed up to deliver a dominant win in morning doubles play, and then both delivered a pair of singles wins as well, to highlight action for the Mercer men's tennis team on opening-day action at the Wofford Invitational.

The tandem surrendered just one game in posting a 6-1 victory over Kennesaw State's Joel Gibson and Seru Tezuka to get the action rolling at Wofford Reeves Tennis Center. Putter would go on to post a straight-sets win over Kennesaw State's Brian Capalnean on Friday afternoon, while Barrow rebounded from an opening set loss to Tezuka with consecutive 6-4 set triumphs.

Samuel MacLeod was Mercer's only other victor in singles play on Friday as he tallied a 6-4, 7-5 win over KSU's Anthony Weingarten.

The Orange & Black will continue play at the 3-day event on Saturday. The Bears are scheduled for a 10:30 a.m. singles competition with Wofford, as well as a 3:30 p.m. doubles tilt against South Carolina State.
