Men’s Tennis Tallies Three Singles Wins At Wofford Invitational

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Samuel MacLeod registered a straight-sets win in his opening matchup of the day, while Samuel Barrow and Victor Putter both tallied victories in singles play with South Carolina State, to define second-day action for the Mercer men's tennis team at the Wofford Invitational on Saturday.

MacLeod toughed out a 6-4, 7-5 win over Wofford's Max Graham to give the Orange & Black its lone win in its morning singles matchup with Southern Conference rival Wofford. In the afternoon tilt with the Bulldogs, Putter surrendered just four games in a 6-3, 6-1 triumph over SCSU's Luka Stefanovic, while Samuel Barrow prevailed in his first-set tiebreaker with Benjamin Nev, and then finished off the Bulgarian with a 6-3 victory in the second set.

The Bears will close out their stay in Spartanburg, S.C. on Sunday with doubles action against both Wofford and South Carolina State.
