
Bears Welcome Jacksonville Sunday For Merrie Christmas Project Game

It is the Merrie Christmas Project game for the Bears. Fans will receive free admission to the game if they bring a pair of new socks to the game. This will go toward Merrie's Closet, which is part of the The Merrie Christmas Project. Socks are considered a luxury for those in need and is a huge necessity for families in need. Â

SERIES HISTORY
Sunday's game between Mercer and Jacksonville will be the 35th all-time meeting between the two programs. Jacksonville leads the series 19-15 and the Dolphins have won the last two meetings.
SCOUTING JACKSONVILLE
Jacksonville is coming off a 12-17 season in 2022-23. The Dolphins went 6-11 in conference play. Jacksonville is led by first year head coach Special Jennings. The Dolphins were picked to finish ninth in the 12-team league (ASUN) in the preseason coaches poll.
Jacksonville has quite an extreme home/road split as the Dolphins are undefeated at home (4-0) and winless on the road (0-5).
Jacksonville averages 67.6 points per game and allows 70.9 points per game, both rank in the middle of the pack in the ASUN. Jacksonville is susceptible to turning the ball over as they average 22.1 turnovers per game. That is second most in the ASUN.
The Dolphins have one of the best scorers in the ASUN in junior guard Edyn Battle. Battle averages 19.6 points per game, second most in the ASUN.
Only one other player for Jacksonville averages double figures in scoring. That is freshman forward, Saniyah Craig who is averaging 12.0 points per game. Craig also leads the team with 6.8 rebounds per game.
LAST TIME OUT
Mercer outscored North Carolina A&T 20-12 in the fourth quarter to comeback and defeat the Aggies in Greensboro, 55-52 Saturday afternoon.
The Mercer bench came up huge on the day, outscoring North Carolina A&T's bench 28-4. Aspen Johnson and Ashlee Locke combined for 20 of those 28 bench points for the Bears.
Johnson had a career-high 15 points on 6-for-10 shooting to go with five rebounds and three assists. Locke added seven points with five rebounds. She made two clutch free throws in the fourth quarter to put Mercer up 55-52 with nine seconds to play to help seal the win.
NEED TO KNOW
Mercer had 15 turnovers to North Carolina A&T's 12. It was the first win this season for Mercer in which it had more turnovers than its opponentÂ
