CHAPEL HILL, NC- The Mercer men's lacrosse team fell in its second road game of the season to No. 20 North Carolina 25-3 at Dorrance Field in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. The Bears drop to 0-2 overall. The Tar Heels moved to 1-0.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Three different Bears contributed to the scoring on the evening. Ashton Wood, Parker Junod and Connor Panebianco each added a goal for the Bears. Wood started the scoring off for Mercer in the second quarter when he won a face-off and maneuvered his way in front of the goal and scored. Parker Junod's goal came in the third off a rebound following a save from the UNC goalie. Carl Klepper added the only assist for the Bears in the third quarter when he fed Connor Panebianco for a man up goal.
Ashton Wood won 16-of-27 of the face-offs he took. Wood also scooped up a game high of 12 ground balls. The Bears were able to successfully clear the ball 15 times against the Tar Heels.
The Bears look to bounce back against Holy Cross in the season's home opener at Five Star Stadium in Macon on Saturday, February 18.
