Women's Lacrosse Welcomes Davidson in Home Opener

MACON, Ga. – The Mercer women's lacrosse team welcomes Davidson to Five Star Stadium in the Bears' home opener, Sunday at 1 p.m.

SERIES HISTORY
Sunday's game will be the third all-time meeting between Mercer and Davidson. The two teams have split the first two meetings, with the visiting team winning each game.

LAST TIME OUT
The Mercer women's lacrosse team defeated Virginia Tech 11-8 for an emphatic season opening win and claimed its first ever win over an ACC program.

Mercer was excellent in draw controls, with 15 to Virginia Tech's 8. Lyndsey Lewis had nine of Mercer's 15 controls.

Senior Shannon Urey led the Bears offensively with four goals. Chloe Schaeffer had four points and Maddi Koury had three assists.

Defensively Carmella Fischer had three ground balls and three caused turnovers.

SCOUTING DAVIDSON
Davidson comes into the game with a 2-1 record with wins over Big South member High Point and Coastal Carolina.

The Wildcats had a program-best 13 wins in the 2022 season with a defense that ranked 19^th nationally allowing just 10.2 goals per game.

Key players back this season for Davidson are its goalie Amanda Monahan and First Team All-Conference defender Noelle Cegielski.

Through the first three games this season, Davidson is averaging 13.0 goals per game, while allowing just 6.0 per game, each ranks second-best in the A-10.

Opponents have outshot Davidson 33.3 to 26.7 this season, however Davison owns a 48.8 shot percentage compared to opponents who are shooting just 39.0 percent on the Wildcats.
