
Women’s Tennis on the Road to Face Jacksonville State

MACON, Ga. – The women's tennis program will travel to Alabama on Wednesday, March 1 to face Jacksonville State. The two teams last met in 2021, which Mercer won, 5-2.

The team is coming off two big wins at home last week, defeating Georgia College, 4-3, and Lipscomb, 6-1.Â

Marina de Diego Quinones went undefeated against the two teams in both doubles and singles, including her second singles win on court four this season. Mary Weston Courville took wins both days in the second singles slot. Lekha Varudandi won her first singles match of the season against Lipscomb on court six.Â

The Gamecocks are having an impressive season and went on a five-match win streak until Georgia Southern broke the run last Tuesday, defeating the team, 5-2. On Thursday, the Gamecocks bounced back from the loss, defeating Florida A&M, 5-2.Â

Irene Artigas and Ramane Mosse have occupied the first doubles slot for the past six matches and have gone 2-4 together with their most recent win being at the beginning of this month. Anna Syrova and Ella Tuomela have been paired all season, drifting between second and third doubles, and are 9-0 on the season together.Â

Mosse has gone 4-0 on court one for singles and Serafima Shastova has gone 4-1 as the two have been alternating back and forth all season in the slot. Zuzana Pavelokova has also been floating around in singles and is 5-1 so far with her only loss being to Troy.Â
