SERIES HISTORY
Wednesday will be the fifth all-time meeting between Mercer and Wofford. Mercer leads the series 4-0.
LAST TIME OUT
Four different Mercer players scored hat tricks and Mercer's defense was once again stout as Mercer women's lacrosse defeated Longwood 18-5 in Farmville, Virginia Saturday afternoon.
With the win, the Bears move to 4-0 in conference play and have limited each conference opponent to less than 10 goals.
Mercer outshot Winthrop 40-12 including a 32-7 shots on goal advantage. The Bears also doubled up the Lancers 18-9 in draw controls.
The Bears got hat tricks from Shannon Urey, Chloe Schaeffer, Lyndsey Lewis, and Kayla Soltys. As a team, Mercer had 11 assists in the game, a season-high.
Soltys and Erin Degnan each had seven draw controls on the afternoon.
SCOUTING WOFFORD
Wofford enters Wednesday's game 2-2 in Big South play. The Terriers were picked to finish seventh in the 10 team conference in the coaches preseason poll.
Wofford is coming off a 22-3 setback at Campbell on Saturday. The Terriers are fifth in the conference in scoring at 9.42 goals per game. They have allowed the third most goals per game in the conference this season as opponents are averaging 16.00 goals per game against them.
Wofford averages 18.08 shots per game, third most in the conference. The Terriers are prone to turning the ball over as they are second to last in the conference in turnovers and caused turnovers.
Mercer is the best draw control team in the conference, but Wofford is the next best team in the draw control circle. The Terriers average 15.00 draw controls per game and win 52 percent of their draw controls.
Wofford does not have a top 10 goal scorer in the conference. Its leading goal scorer is midfielder Emma Krasinski who has 19 goals in 12 games played this season. Olivia Abe leads the team with 24 points. She is the only Terrier with more than 20 points on the season.
Wofford goalie Ella Smithers has a 13.90 goals against average and a .341 save percentage.
