
Bears Earn Senior Day Win Over Samford

MACON, Ga. – The Mercer men's tennis program (11-12, 5-2) concluded the regular season with a 5-2 win over Samford (10-10, 5-2). The Bulldogs were tied for first place in the conference entering the match. Mercer honored senior Andrew Branicki before the match.

The Bears switched up the doubles lineup compared to recent matches and came out with the doubles point. Samuel Barrow and Mariano Argote teamed up at the second doubles slot to defeat Matthew Gooch and Harrison Williams, 6-1. Marceau Foulihoux and Nemanja Stefanovic clinched the doubles point with a 6-3 win over J.B. Pickard and Darcy Nicholls on court three. This was the Mercer duo's sixth conference win this season.

Samuel MacLeod earned the first singles point for the Bears with a straight-set 6-3, 6-3 victory against Santiago Arredondo on court five. Stefanovic followed this up with a straight-set win of his own, 6-4, 6-4 over Pickard on court three. The Bulldogs won a point back on court one next.

To clinch the match, Barrow notched a 6-4, 6-4 win versus Will Gray on court six. Barrow is now 10-7 overall this season after earning his fifth SoCon singles win.

The teams played out the match as Foulihoux picked up the final point for Mercer with a 6-2, 5-7, 6-3 win over Nicholls on court four. This placed Foulihoux at a 16-4, 6-1 record during the regular season. Court two finished with a win for Samford in a third set 10-point tiebreak.

UP NEXT: Mercer awaits the bracket release for the Southern Conference Men's Tennis Championships hosted in Chattanooga, Tennessee. The first round will be played on Thursday, April 20.
