Bears go 1-3 at the Second Bear Beach Bash

MACON, Ga. – The Mercer Bears Beach Volleyball team went 1-3 at the second Bears Beach Bash Invitational this Friday, April 14 and Saturday, April 15 in Macon, Georgia.
FRIDAY, APRIL 14
UNIVERSITY NORTH CAROLINA WILMINGTON| 9:00 AM
The Mercer Bears defeated by to UNCW 0-5 in their first duel of the weekend.
Lexi Polychrones and Jordan Paddock were defeated by UNCW's LaPata and Sharkey in a two sets. The score of the first set was 14-21, the score of the second was 12-21. Nicole O'Mara and Kate Hardie were defeated by UNCW's Thompson and Haggerty in two straight sets. The score of the first set was 16-21 and the score for the second set was 14-21. Sydney Benson and Jordan Morris would battle in a two-set match against UNCW's Bucci and Lyvia. The score of the first set was 13-21 and the score of the second was also 13-21. Kathryn Corbett and Alyssa Scoggins would battle and lose a close match against UNCW's Thompson and Barry in two sets. The score of the first was 18-21 and the score of the second was 14-21. Reese Hood and Hollis Engel would drop their match against UNCW's Folks and McLaughlin in two sets. The score of the first set was 20-22 and the score of the second was 19-21.
EASTERN KENTUCKY UNIVERSITY | 3:00 PM
The Mercer Bears would defeat to EKU 3-2 in their second duel of the weekend.
Polychrones and Paddock would be defeated by EKU's Stone and Keating in two sets. The score of first set 17-21 and the score of the second set by a score of 11-21. O'Mara and Hardie would defeat EKU's Campbell and Walker in two sets. The score of the first set was 23-21 and the score of the second set was 21-19. Benson and Morris would be defeated EKU's Mitchell and Mueller in a three-set match. The score of the first set was 13-21 in favor of EKU, the score of the second set was 22-11 in favor of the Bears. EKU would take the final set by a score of 12-15. Corbett and Scoggins would beat EKU's Lonergan and Williams in two sets. The score of the first set was 21-17 and the score of the second set was 21-18. Engel and Hood would defeat EKU's Rima and Mason in two sets. The score of the first set was 21-18 and the score of the second set was 21-15.
SATURDAY, APRIL 15
UNIVERSITY OF NORTH ALABAMA | 11:00 AM
The Mercer Bears would fall to UNA 1-4 in their first duel of day two of the weekend.
Polychrones and Paddock would be defeated UNA's Seney and Klemperer in two sets. The score of the first set was 21-11 and the score of the second was 21-14. O'Mara and Hardie would be beaten by UNA's Martin and Floyd in two sets. The score of the first set was 21-10 and the score of the second set was 21-15. Benson and Morris would come out on top over UNA's McLaurin and Robinson in three sets. The score of the first set was 21-17 in favor of the bear, the score of the second set was 10-21 in favor of UNA. The score of the final set was 15-12 in favor of the Bears. Corbett and Scoggins would be defeated UNA's Kordt and Girod in three sets. The score of the first set was 11-21 in favor of UNA, the score of the second set was 21-19 in favor of the Bears. The score of the final set was 9-15 in favor of UNA. Engel and Hood would be beaten by UNA's Lewis and Anderson in two sets.
