MACON –The Mercer Bears defeated the University of South Florida 2-0 on Friday night at Corbett Stadium in Tampa, Florida.

Mercer moves to 2-1-0 on the season, while the University of South Florida moves to 0-3-0 on the season. Junior midfielder Carlos Santamaria would find the back of the net in the 57th minutes off a chip over the oncoming USF goalkeeper. The goal was Santamaria's first goal for the Bears. 4 minutes later, Barzee Blama would be brought down in the box, setting up a penalty kick for the bears. Graduate midfielder Omar Hernandez would step and and place it in the top right corner, bringing the Bears lead to 2-0. This would be Hernandez's first goal as a Bear.
