Goals from Cook, Moorman, and Thomason
MACON, Ga. – Three goals from three different players helped guide Mercer to a 3-1 conference win over Wofford Thursday night at Betts Stadium
A bit of a slow start for the Bears would not prevent them from scoring the first three goals of the game. In the 35th minute, Kendall Cook scored a spectacular goal off her left-foot from the right edge of the box. She curled in her shot over the Wofford goalie and in to the side netting for her fourth goal of the season.
In the 50th minute, Lena Dykes took a throw in and then crossed the ball into the box where Jada Moorman headed home her 10th goal of the season to put Mercer up 2-0.
Then, four minutes later, Moorman dribbled down the right side and crossed a ball to Larkin Thomason who controlled the ball and slotted it past the Wofford goalie for her ninth goal of the season.
Wofford would get one back in the 57th minute, but after that Mercer would have the better of the chances for the remainder of the game.
Mercer outshot the Terriers 25-8, including an 8-2 advantage in shots on goal.
Mercer will play its third consecutive home game on Sunday when ETSU comes to Macon for a 2 p.m. kickoff.
