SERIES HISTORY
Mercer leads the all-time series 9-4-4. The two teams played twice last season. The first meeting was a 0-0 tie in Macon and then the two teams played in the SoCon Tournament quarterfinals where the Bears won in penalty kicks 3-2.
DID YOU KNOW
Sunday's game will be strength on strength as the highest scoring team in the SoCon in Mercer (33 goals) faces the best defensive team in the SoCon in ETSU (4 goals allowed).
LAST TIME OUT
Three goals from three different players helped guide Mercer to a 3-1 conference win over Wofford Thursday night at Betts Stadium.
A bit of a slow start for the Bears would not prevent them from scoring the first three goals of the game. In the 35th minute, Kendall Cook scored a spectacular goal off her left-foot from the right edge of the box for her fourth goal of the season.
In the 50th minute, Lena Dykes took a throw in and then crossed the ball into the box where Jada Moorman headed home her 10th goal of the season to put Mercer up 2-0.
Then, four minutes later, Moorman dribbled down the right side and crossed a ball to Larkin Thomason who controlled the ball and slotted it past the Wofford goalie for her ninth goal of the season. Wofford got one goal back but the Bears earned their first conference win of the season.
SCOUTING ETSU
ETSU enters Sunday's game 6-1-4 overall and 2-0-1 in SoCon play.
The Bucs are coming off a 1-0 home win over Chattanooga to move to the top of the SoCon standings three games in to conference play.
ETSU has been outstanding defensively this season, allowing just four goals in 11 games, the 10th best goals against average in the country. They have shut out their last six opponents as only two teams have scored this season against the Bucs.
ETSU averages 12.7 shots per game and allows only 6.7 per game. The Bucs have two players leading the team with four goals each in Reagan Fitzgerald and Sinoxolo Cesane.
