MACON - The Mercer volleyball team moves to 14-4 on the season and 4-1 in conference play after a sweep against Furman Saturday night in Hawkins Arena. The Bears tallied 48 kills and a .248 hitting percentage compared to The Paladin's 28 kills and .155 hitting percentage.

Freshman Sophia Henry and senior Skye Ekes dominated on the front line for the Bears combining for 25 kills. Henry registered 12 kills, hitting an impressive .455 and Ekes recorded a match-high 13 kills. Skyler Bumpers got on the board all-around with five kills, two assists, two service aces and two blocks in the win. MeMe Davis picked up 18 digs and three assists, second to Brooke Phillips' 33 assists to lead the Bears past the Paladins.

The Bears will travel up to the Carolinas next weekend for two more SoCon matches. On Friday, Oct.18 Mercer will face UNC Greensboro at 6 p.m. at Fleming Gym and will travel down to Spartanburg, S.C. on Saturday, Oct. 19, for a 6 p.m. matchup against the Terriers of Wofford College.

MATCH REPLAY
SET 1 I 25-21	Skyler Bumpers was stellar behind the service line in the first set with multiple service runs to extend the lead for Mercer. The Paladins fought back to take the lead at the 20-21 mark but a kill from Sophia Henry evened the score and gave the Bears the momentum they needed to earn five straight points, taking the set win.
SET 2 I 25-15	Mercer fell behind in the first few points of the set but quickly bounced back after a kill from Skye Ekes to make the score 8-7. A six-point service run from Abbey Havrilla extended the lead for the Bears and putting the set out of reach from the Paladins.
SET 3 I 25-21	Skye Ekes was lights out in the third set registering an impressive seven kills and .455 hitting percentage. Mercer maintained a good lead until Furman rallied back to make the score 19-15 but was not enough to shut down Mercer's dominant offense. Sophia Henry closed out the match with three kills earning Mercer their fourth win in conference play.
