Bears finished fifth in 16 team field
WEST POINT, Miss. - Emilia Väistö carded a second consecutive round of 4-under, 68 in her final round Wednesday and finished in a tie for seventh place at The Ally from Old Waverly Golf Club.
As a team, the Bears finished in fifth place in the 16 team field at 16-over, 880. The Florida Gators won The Ally with a team score of 15-under, 849. The four teams who finished ahead of Mercer on the leaderboard were all SEC teams currently ranked in the top 50 in the country.
Väistö, a freshman from Seinäjoki, Finland has finished in the top 15 in each of her last three tournaments for the Bears. Väistö's second and third rounds of 68 (-4) were career lows for her. No one played the par 3's better than Väistö throughout the tournament as she was tied for the best score to par on them at 3-under.
Analiese Raath played as an individual and finished tied for 19th at 1-over, 217. Raath had a consistent tournament with 39 pars which was tied for fourth most in the 90 player field along with Mikayls Dubnik who finished the tournament with her best round with an even par, 70.
Up next for the Bears is the Mercer Invitational Oct. 28-29 from River Forest Golf Club in Forsyth, Georgia.
