
Mercer Begins SoCon Tournament Friday Against Chattanooga

MACON, Ga. -Â The Mercer women's soccer team is in Cullowhee, North Carolina to begin its SoCon Tournament against Chattanooga in the quarterfinals. The Bears are the No. 4 seed and the Mocs are the No. 5 seed. The winner advances to the semifinals on Sunday where it will play the winner of Western Carolina versus Wofford.

SERIES HISTORYÂ
Friday's match marks the 13th meeting between the Bears and Mocs. Mercer won the regular season meeting earlier this season in Macon, 2-0 on goals from Sara Engels and Larkin Thomason.
LAST TIME OUT
Lena Dykes scored her second goal of the season on a fabulous shot in the 83rd minute to lift Mercer to a 2-1 win over Wofford to close out the regular season last Sunday from Snyder Field in Spartanburg, South Carolina.
SCOUTING CHATTANOOGA
Chattanooga went 5-4-0 in conference play to earn the No. 5 seed in the tournament. The Mocs allowed the second fewest goals among the 10 SoCon teams in conference play, giving up just seven goals in nine games.
Mercer was the only of the four SoCon teams to beat the Mocs by more than one goal this season. Chattanooga's leading goal scorer is junior forward Caroline Richvalsky who has six goals to go with two assists on the year. No other Moc has more than two goals this season.
In goal for the Mocs will likely be Caroline Ekern who has started all 17 games in goal. She owns a 1.18 goals against average and has a .737 save percentage.
