Bears Travel To Birmingham For Conference Match

MACON - The Mercer volleyball team treks to Birmingham, Ala. to face the Bulldogs of Samford University in a mid-week SoCon matchup. The Bears look to pick up their 14th win of the season and 4th win in the conference.

The Bears are coming off of a 2-0 weekend of conference play with wins over ETSU (3-1) and Chattanooga (3-2).

Mercer currently leads the NCAA in total service aces at 151, 14 more than the second-highest team. Skye Ekes continues to lead the Mercer offense with 231 kills, averaging 4.29 per set and is coming off of a career-high performance of 21 kills against Chattanooga. Setter, Brooke Phillips leads the conference in service aces with 48 and has 584 assists on the season. Freshman libero MeMe Davis has tallied 272 digs across 63 sets played, averaging 4.32 per set.

Samford has an overall record of 9-5 and an in-conference record of 3-1. The Bulldogs fell to Wofford 0-3 but defeated Chattanooga, Western Carolina and ETSU.

First serve is schedule for 7:30 p.m. at the Pete Hanna Center and will be live streamed by the Samford athletics department.
