
Mercer Dominates Trinity Baptist in 101-43 Victory

Defense held Trinity Baptist to 26 percent shooting
MACON, Ga. – Twelve Mercer players scored and the Bears' defense held Trinity Baptist to just 26 percent shooting from the field as Mercer dominated Trinity Baptist in a 101-43 win Wednesday night inside Hawkins Arena.

Three Bears scored in double figures led by Tyler Johnson's 16 points and another three players added nine points each, as Mercer eclipsed 100 points in a game for the second time this season. Mercer shot 48 percent from the field, but the Bears' defense also showed up big holding Trinity Baptist to just 13 first half points and 1-of-19 (5%) from three-point range on the night.
Mercer forced 26 turnovers from the Eagles as the Bears had 21 steals that turned into 36 points. Jah Nze had a good all-around night for the Bears with nine points, and a career-high six rebounds, and six assists.

HOW IT HAPPENED |
1ST HALF |
After leading 3-2, just two minutes into the game, Mercer would go on a 24-2 run over the next six minutes of game action to quickly take control of the game with a 27-4 lead. Five different Mercer players scored during the run with seven of the points coming from Ahmad Robinson. A few minutes later, a layup from Tyler Johnson made it a 33-6 lead for the Bears. Mercer would take a commanding 45-13 lead into halftime. |
2ND HALF |
To start the second half, the Bears picked up where they left off in the first half and went on an 9-0 scoring run to take a 54-13 lead. The Bears led 72-28 midway through the second half. Then, Mercer went on another scoring run, this time outscoring Trinity Baptist, 11-0 over two and a half minute span to take a 83-28 lead. The run included a highlight reel alley-oop dunk from Jah Quinones to Cam Bryant. The Bears would go on to earn the 101-43 win to improve to 2-1 on the season. |
